I thought the bogging assignments were different, but i enjoyed writing my opinion on the topics.Being able to express my opinion while working on the computer and learning about the site was fun. the topics you had us write about really made me have to use critical thinking which i usually dont use which i believe helped even more with understanding the concepts of the class.

I think the topics chosen for our blogs went along with what we were learning in class really well and it helped me to have a better understanding of what we were talking about in the actual class. I thought the topics were well chosen and really had us apply what we were learning in class and helped me to better understand critical thinking.

i dont think they had any affect at all. i believe that the blogging assignments definately helped me with understanding what we were going over in class, and helped with my critical thinking skills as well as my skills with the technological world of the internet.

Is a picture really worth a thousand words?

Some one once said, "A Picture is worth a thousand words." That saying is actually true even if it's not a picture. There are so many items that mean different things to different people, baby blankets, lockets, baseballs, albums full of moments. A photograph is a very powerful tool, capable of telling a complete story with just one click. With just one click you capture a moment in time, one moment in your life, and every time you look at that picture you are taken back to that same moment. When you take a minute to stop and think about pictures how they are looked at you might notice that more often than not if there is no writing with it, yet you still have a sense of what it is saying, every person hears something different a picture leaves it up to the onlooker to interperut its meaning which is different depending on the onlooker. So when askedi f a picture is worth a thousand words i say yes. To one individual they may look at a picture and only have one word to describe what it means to them, but to each person wholokks at it ,it can mean a completely different word. Therefore a picture is worth more than a thousand words. Here are a few examples...Wedding vows, babys first steps, daughters first date, sons first shot, grandmas final resting place.

Why do human beings believe in things that are not (or cannot) be proven?

Why do human beings believe in things that cannot be proven?

Some may argue that it is simply human nature. My personal explanation as to why, is based on how you are raised, to believe without question or question what you believe. When you are young and you are lead to believe, for example, that Santa or the Easter Bunny is Real, and then you grow and find out that what you believed in isn't real. It may lead to you questioning more later in life. Also, as an adult, it becomes more and more evident that things in life are not as wonderful or magical as they all seemed at first, when you were growing up and had all these fantastical beliefs. And I believe that we, as adults, still seek to find something more. We still want to come out of our rooms on Christmas morning to find Santa Claus putting gifts into our stockings, or the Easter bunny hiding eggs around the house. But while we can accept that these simple beliefs are in fact, nonexistent, we still feel the need for something more, something unexplainable to hold on to, to have faith in. And so we look up, away from our selfish childish desires for more material items, and instead, as contemplative beings, look to our own existence. Something is mysterious when it is hard to explain, or understand. Many people have seen or experienced strange things. For example, people have claimed to have seen creatures such as the Loch Ness Monster or Big foot. Others believe in places like Atlantis and the Bermuda Triangle. Throughout history, people have enjoyed speculating about the unknown, because something has not yet been proven. Skeptics may question if what they saw or believe is real or actually happened. In some cases, events are eventually explained by science. However, many events have remained unexplained after hundreds of years. These unexplained events usually become the basis for myths, and legends. Magical thinking helped primitive man survive in a world that he did not understand. So today, when we have science to explain things, the human mind still holds on to our primitive urges. Who really knows why we believe in the things that have not yet been explained, or proven. Maybe we are clinging to our childhood tendencies. Maybe it is from an experience that we cannot explain in any other way. Maybe its from hearing other peoples accounts when we are at an impressionable age. Maybe its due to our culture, or how we were raised. Science doesn't explain everything, at least not as of yet, but until it does we as the human race will still look to the unexplainable with faith.

Why are so many people uncomfortable with the idea that many problems don't have a single solution?

People seem to think that the way that they do things is right, therefor its the only way it can be done correctly. When in all reality there are several different solutions for the majority of problems, some easier than others and more practical, but still more than one way. Ever heard of "There's no wrong way to eat a Reese's".Some people seem to be uncomfortable with the idea that many problems don't have a single solution. There are also people who analyze the problem and come up with several different ways of solving a problem.

A huge controversy is abortion right now, to allow it or ban it, choice or life? Those may appear to some people as the only answers, but to others they have different views. Such as banning abortion, with exceptions such as rape victims. Many don't look at this solution as an option at all, that their way is the only way and we should ban it completely. Others believe that the only solution is to leave it up to the mother and let her choose. There are several solutions and to different people, there is only one. Why is that? I believe that it is due to different things depending on the person, possibly how they were raised or just what they believe.

There are most likely several different reasons as to why people may be uncomfortable with the idea that many problems don't have just a single solution. Some possibilities include ,Hardheadedness ,Comfort Zones, Beliefs, or maybe Tradition. There is always going to be the conflict of who’s way is better, could it be that both solutions may work just as effectively? Many times this is the case, Our opinion is who we are in a sense and why would we change that?

One way in which technology has changed human society

Computer Techn
ology: Do We Know Whats Happening?

Computers are a main part of everyday life. Computers are used to automate processes in many and much faster ways. Computers have changed the way our entire society works, for example computers are now used for medical records in doctors offices. Most offices still back up their systems with traditional files, but at a growing rate they are becoming completely reliable on computers. Is this a good thing? Yes and No really, In the state of things with people "Going Green" it seems the environmentally friendly route, but where do our electronic devices go when they become obsolete? What happens when a system crashes and medical files are lost? Do you think it is worth saving trees, or are lives more important. Our computer waste is shipped out of our country, but what about the people who deal with our waste? How does it effect their lives?

We have incorporated computers into everything we do, from our cell phones to medical machinery, where would we be without them? Where are we headed? Computers are becoming an important part of industrial design, Computer-aided design, and computer-aided manufacturing. The wide use of computers has stimulated companies which manufacture the many parts needed to make and operate them, while also replacing people and jobs. Are we taking computer Technology too far? Some people feel that computer technology has gone too far. It may create problems such as machine errors in people's records and banks, governments may gain access to private financial information. Branch-bank employees worry that computers and automated tellers may replace people. While technological change has been a priority for banks over the last few years, they also have realized that there is the need to communicate in person with customers. Banks must manage money and data effectively but they must also maintain personal relations. Bank personnel may be assisted with computer and some services may work well when automated, but banks will probably never lose their staffs to machines.

With the new wave of the Internet, minds of not only small children, but also teens and adults become reliant on technology. You no longer need to leave your house to go to school, you can contact people across the globe in mere seconds. Then you have the obesity subject , are we making it too easy to not leave the house? People are choosing not to, living off of the latest technology. As the mind develops, things such as pornography are no longer the main concern. Now, because of the easy access to information, teenagers who get bored with their current form of entertainment can go online and find out exactly how to make bombs, and you have a new form of entertainment most likely to appear n U-tube to spark the minds of others. Seems relatively harmless right? But what about all the other people who can find similar information, and use it for something more than entertainment such as the laid-off business man, the dumped boyfriend, or the deranged psycho.

My general feelings about computer technology, and the Internet are simple. Technology is not all bad. The whole point of this is that people have to be sure that everyone is aware of all the good and bad aspects of technology. I feel that the advance of technology is a good trend for our society, but it must be in conjunction with advances in education so that society is able to master and understand technology. Using technology is inevitable, but don't rely on it to live your life.In the future we may see many problems arising from this new wave of technology. We can grow with it and become the masters of technology, and not let it be the masters of us.
