One way in which technology has changed human society

Computer Techn
ology: Do We Know Whats Happening?

Computers are a main part of everyday life. Computers are used to automate processes in many and much faster ways. Computers have changed the way our entire society works, for example computers are now used for medical records in doctors offices. Most offices still back up their systems with traditional files, but at a growing rate they are becoming completely reliable on computers. Is this a good thing? Yes and No really, In the state of things with people "Going Green" it seems the environmentally friendly route, but where do our electronic devices go when they become obsolete? What happens when a system crashes and medical files are lost? Do you think it is worth saving trees, or are lives more important. Our computer waste is shipped out of our country, but what about the people who deal with our waste? How does it effect their lives?

We have incorporated computers into everything we do, from our cell phones to medical machinery, where would we be without them? Where are we headed? Computers are becoming an important part of industrial design, Computer-aided design, and computer-aided manufacturing. The wide use of computers has stimulated companies which manufacture the many parts needed to make and operate them, while also replacing people and jobs. Are we taking computer Technology too far? Some people feel that computer technology has gone too far. It may create problems such as machine errors in people's records and banks, governments may gain access to private financial information. Branch-bank employees worry that computers and automated tellers may replace people. While technological change has been a priority for banks over the last few years, they also have realized that there is the need to communicate in person with customers. Banks must manage money and data effectively but they must also maintain personal relations. Bank personnel may be assisted with computer and some services may work well when automated, but banks will probably never lose their staffs to machines.

With the new wave of the Internet, minds of not only small children, but also teens and adults become reliant on technology. You no longer need to leave your house to go to school, you can contact people across the globe in mere seconds. Then you have the obesity subject , are we making it too easy to not leave the house? People are choosing not to, living off of the latest technology. As the mind develops, things such as pornography are no longer the main concern. Now, because of the easy access to information, teenagers who get bored with their current form of entertainment can go online and find out exactly how to make bombs, and you have a new form of entertainment most likely to appear n U-tube to spark the minds of others. Seems relatively harmless right? But what about all the other people who can find similar information, and use it for something more than entertainment such as the laid-off business man, the dumped boyfriend, or the deranged psycho.

My general feelings about computer technology, and the Internet are simple. Technology is not all bad. The whole point of this is that people have to be sure that everyone is aware of all the good and bad aspects of technology. I feel that the advance of technology is a good trend for our society, but it must be in conjunction with advances in education so that society is able to master and understand technology. Using technology is inevitable, but don't rely on it to live your life.In the future we may see many problems arising from this new wave of technology. We can grow with it and become the masters of technology, and not let it be the masters of us.
